Had lunch at Victor's Kitchen today! the place is getting so famous the dim sum's getting a bit more expensive. taste is still rather good, but cheong fun's portion shrunk a little though. haha. the standard still can't be compared to the days when the little corner was still rather unfounded at Sunshine Plaza. my bf and i miss Victor's wife who used to help out 'cause she was always so cheery and smiley whenever she sees customers. miss that smile. i think the boss's temper is getting worse. maybe hongkongers are like that. lol.
Was supposed to study at Pacific Coffee straight after lunch but ended up watching Kungfu Dunk on his laptop. haha. but i did study afterwards, it just meant there was less time for study. :P anyway, i didn't really think well of Kungfu Dunk but it was unexpectedly quite funny, and most probably better than CJ7 (which i didn't watch after hearing quite a lot of bad reviews).
Dinner has got to be the highlight of the day man. we went to Waraku at Marina Square, 'cause we both love japanese food and we couldn't think of what else to eat. :D anyway, we ordered 2 plates of maguro sushi besides a set meal and when it came, both of us just stared at the plate of sushi. normal, fresh maguro would be red, like blood red, but this maguro was a like a bleached maguro and turning kinda brown. (can u imagine that) this is the first time in my life i've seen tuna looking like this, so i told nic that "i can't eat this sushi, not even with my eyes closed". we tried to push the responsibility to each other as to who's gonna ask to change a new plate, but i did in the end. guess what? the manager AND the chef came out with a new plate and apologised profusely, i really mean profusely, for the unfresh maguro. something like "i'm so sorry, the maguro wasn't fresh so i changed a new one for you.. so sorry.." then the manager echoes "so sorry..." .... i was quite shocked i didn't know how to react. lol. just nodded and said it's ok and smiled. you know their action made me feel kinda guilty for asking to change a plate haha. like some kinda psychologial game. but the funny thing is, the maguro looked only slightly better, not brown but still looking like it was bleached. we ate it all the same. like, who dares to reject it again?! nic pointed out that possibility and i don't even want to think about what will happen. lol. just eat LAH. otherwise they will ban you from Waraku. haha. but think in a positive way: at least their service is good.
so where can you find good maguro sushi? nic recommends Ichiban Boshi, 'cause even if you go to expensive places, the quality is nowhere better. you want super fresh maguro? go to Japan lah! :P
